Happy Thanksgiving From the Shoebox Canyon
I, Bernie Harberts, did not use generative AI to write or illustrate this article. Spell check and grammar check, yes. AI, no.

Happy Thanksgiving from our cabin up the Shoebox Canyon. The home made pear pie’s thawing (yeah, those sandy, gritty-ass pears that grow down south). The flower arrangement’s been cut (it’s going to be another year of leaves crammed into a Ball jar). And the wood stove is chasing the damp away (misty damp here in western North Carolina). But Julia and I are extremely grateful for every bit of it.
I wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving, wherever you are. If you’re with friends and family, soak up the revelry and what you’re grateful for, (even if you have to put on your blinders to look past some of the friction). If you’re alone, or just not tapping into the Thanksgiving spirit, look deep into the leaf arrangement below. Then head outside and see the real thing and I guarantee you’ll feel Thankful.

Happy Thanksgiving Bernie and Julia!
Enjoy your “Gritty Pear Pie”. We had most of the GrandCrew here with us for Pumpkin Chiffon, Pecan, and yes Girdle Buster Pie(s). Nora and Wyatt say hi to both of you and the critters. Our table was also decorated with leaves Ben, Kira and the kids gathered from the yard. Hope to drop by soon for an autographed copy of “Two Miles”
Doug
Howdy Day After Thanksgiving, Doug! I love the image of a slice of Girdle Buster Pie next to a leaf arrangement. Our gritty pear pie is more like Belt Slacking Pie… We’d love to have you out. If we can get Brick to hold a pen in her mouth, you might even talk her out of an autograph for “Two Mules to Triumph”. Otherwise, I’ll step in! Have a great day and say howdy to everyone. See you up the Shoebox Canyon! Bernie and Julia who says happy Day After Thanksgiving, too.
