As you may know, I don’t shoe our mules or horses with steel shoes. When their feet need extra protection, like when my wife Julia and I ride them on rocky trails, I fit them with hoof boots. The rest of the time, I let them go barefoot.
I’ve now traveled over 10,000 miles with my mules barefoot and in hoof boots, and I enjoyed sharing this knowledge with Alicia. Some of the things we discussed are:
