Melissa Priblo Chapman’s Review of “Two Mules to Triumph”

I, Bernie Harberts, did not use generative AI to write or illustrate this article. Spell check and grammar check, yes. AI, no.

Big smile on my face when I read the email from Long Rider and author of Distant Skies Melissa Priblo Chapman. “I truly enjoyed every word of TWO MULES TO TRIUMPH” she wrote and that reminded me of a great chat Melissa and I had about riding her horse Rainy across America.

Melissa’s book Distant Skies. It’s a must-read for anyone who enjoys stories about travel, horses and adventure. Distant Skies comes highly recommended, both for being a great adventure story and for delving into what it’s like to make the transition from teenager to grown-up in the 1980s.

I reviewed Melissa on RiverEarth.com a while back and that two-part series became of the site’s most popular posts. You can listen to our conversation and read the articles here:

  • Part 1: Heading out, mission fatigue, spiritual growth, let your kids go
  • Part 2: Traveling alone, finishing the trip and readjusting to home
