I, Bernie Harberts, did not use generative AI to write or illustrate this article. Spell check and grammar check, yes. AI, no.

Julia and I moments before we swung into the saddle to begin our mule ramble. We are traveling with (L-R) Dusty, Polly and Brick.

We’re off! Today (Friday), Julia and I swung into our saddles and began our mule ramble. Today we’re riding to the Happy Valley Fiddler’s Convention (Happy Valley, NC). The 10 mile ride should take about 4 – 5 hours. Yeah, the first days of a mule journey are slooooooow. I look forward to posting photos and audio from the fiddler’s convention. We expect to be on the road about 5 weeks.

Julia documented the whole ramble on her blog Saddle Under the Stars —
August,
September,
and October.
Her posts are worth your time and will give you her side of the experience.

A most fortunate decision to partake in a ‘little training’ in TX and electing the bunkhouse for my stay. The total enjoyment of our meeting continues to blossom within every corner of my life through reading through these pages and drinking in the luxurious wisdom.
Thank you and big hola’s to Bernie…and the herd. ?
