Photo of the Day – Bicycle Mules

I've been getting my mules Brick and Cracker ready for my upcoming ramble. The first start of my trip is along the Virginia Creeper Trail, a rails-to-trails path that runs 30 miles from Abingdon, Virginia to White Top. Lots of folks ride their bikes on the Creeper Trail but, unfortunately, Brick is afraid of bicycles. That's why, this week, I've led her and Cracker to their pasture on my wife Julia's bike. I like how loose Brick's lead rope is, sure sign she's starting to be less afraid of my ride. Cracker, the mules with the tight lead rope, looks like he could use more work!
