Sea G Rhydr: 200 Miles, 25 Questions, Four Near-Deaths and a Pony Named Theodore

I, Bernie Harberts, did not use generative AI to write or illustrate this article. Spell check and grammar check, yes. AI, no.

Sea G Rhydr is six weeks and 200 miles into a covered wagon voyage through America and when I asked her what she worried about that didn’t happen, she said, “Nothing!”

The list of tribulations includes a runaway, two jackknifes, a team pole bent like a humpback whale and what she describes as four near-deaths in a single day. Whew! And then there is Theodore, a Shetland pony who figured out that beating the tar out of his pulling buddy Franklin was the fastest way to earn a treat from the human who showed up to break up the fight.

And yet, Sea’s trip hasn’t all been drama.

Sea is conducting field interviews for her YouTube channel Who Is My Neighbor. She’s asking people across America twenty-five questions, trying to find some common ground in a country that’s so divided its people have forgotten how to talk among each other. She needs people willing to sit for a remote interview, especially those outside the rural Midwest she has been traveling through. If that’s you, drop her a line.
