About Swan Song
“Swan Song” is about my mule Polly’s and my last wagon ramble together. We set off looking for swans and a memory. We got caught in a snow storm and found so much more.
How ya doin’?

Just watched…so many feels, I don’t know what to say. Except thank you Bernie, for opening my heart so wide the swans can fly into it – the bond with Polly, please give her an apple for me – the memory of slow travel – what a gift. Walter will be getting an extra apple tomorrow too!
Hi, Katie, I am SO happy to hear you got so much out of Swan Song. The PBS NC film crew and director Morgan Potts did a magical job capturing and presenting my relationship with Polly and what we experienced on Lake Mattamuskeet. Consider the two banana peel gift done! We don’t have any apples right now but bananas and banana peels come a close second. Yes, I take the stickers off! Have a great weekend, Katie, and please give Walter a big pat from Julia, Polly and me! Stay Gritty, Bernie
