Photo of the Day – Bumble Bee on Scarlet Runner Bean

Last Christmas, I was given a pound of dried scarlet runner beans by a friend. Julia and I ate all but a few of them, which we planted. They grew and bloomed like Jack's proverbial beanstalk, much to the delight of this bumble bee.

What's more summery than elderflower lemonade? The recipe is simple: elderflowers, water, sugar, and lemon. Mix it all up, put it in a jar, and let it sit for a few days. Chill and serve. In a juice jar, if possible. Enjoy!

The Garlic Journal: How Long It Takes to Grow a Head of Garlic

How long does it take to grow a head of garlic? Today I found out.

Last December, Scott, one of our hunt club members, gave my wife Julia and me 30 heads of garlic. They were amazingly delicious, grown by Scott in his garden. This, I vowed, I would have to try.
